Product Details

This small and delicate late 18th-century French giltwood mirror exudes an air of refined elegance with its richly carved details and luxurious gilded finish. Its compact size intricate detailing and beautiful condition make it a truly precious piece. The frame features a beautifully carved crest with a classical urn and laurel wreath, symbols of victory and honor, complemented by draped garlands for a touch of grace and timeless beauty.

Hints of terracotta red appear where the gilt has worn over the years, adding warmth and character to the frame, while areas of green paint are visible on the wood where the mirror was once inset into boiseries, subtly enriching its palette with historical depth.

The mirror glass, replaced in the late 19th century, remains in very good condition with minimal foxing, preserving both clarity and charm. This makes it ideal for practical use, even in a bathroom or powder room, where its vintage appeal can be appreciated daily. With its touches of color, delicate craftsmanship, and aged patina, this mirror is both a functional piece and a treasured work of art, perfect for bringing a touch of French elegance and history to any space.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
